The town of Utica, Indiana dates back centuries, with the first settlement founded in 1794. Noblewood at Utica is named after one of the town’s founding fathers, James Noble Wood, who established a ferry system that allowed passengers to safely travel across the Ohio River to Harrods Creek, Kentucky while avoiding the dangerous Falls of the Ohio. This ferry system turned Utica into a prosperous, bustling town and established it as an important crossing point between Kentucky and Indiana.

To this day, Utica’s rich history remains an important feature of the town. You can still find historic log cabins, scenic limestone quarries, and other notable landmarks that honor the heritage of the town. In addition, the thriving local businesses and organizations help to make Utica a friendly and welcoming community. With the construction of the new East End Bridge, Utica now serves as the first exit off the bridge from Prospect, Kentucky. The town has again become a flourishing connection point between our two states, while still fostering the peaceful community and slower pace of life that Utica’s residents value.
